Armenian Shakespeare Association (ASA), is delighted to welcome Shakespearean scholars, translators, theatre critics, directors, actors and PhD students across the world to its 4th International Conference in Yerevan.
ASA's conferences have gained popularity among international guests due to their friendly collaborative atmosphere, daily sightseeing tours to ancient historical sights of Armenia, labelled as ‘museum in the open air’ by UNESCO, as well as enriching cultural and entertainment program.
Expenses covered by organisers: transport between Yerevan international airport and the hotel, drinks and snacks during the conference, daily sightseeing tours and guided visits to museums with multi-lingual guides as well as evening entertainment. Flights to and from Armenia and accommodation are not covered. There is no visa requirement for EU and USA citizens (and several other countries), please visit: http://www.mfa.am/en/visa/
The conference suggests following panels, though further discussion topics most welcome:

- Shakespearean canon in his era and historical context (panel on the reality and consequences of the ongoing plague during his lifetime would be MOST timely!)
- Performing Shakespeare in oppressive environments: theatre, cinema, music & dance
- Translating Shakespeare in adverse geo-political or economic settings (translators particularly welcome)
- Shakespeare used/abused/censored by political and ideological elite throughout centuries
- Shakespeare and the powerless: refugees, minorities and outcasts re-claiming their voices through Shakespeare
